With more than 30 children expected to need new families through adoption in the next few months, the County Council is asking Town and Parish councillors to spread the word in their neighbourhood.
Around 40 children in the past year joined local families through adoption in West Sussex but, both locally and nationally, the numbers of children who need an adoptive family are growing.
The County Council is appealing for people to consider becoming a child’s new family through adoption. Adoptive parents, through a legal process, take on full parental responsibility for a child. You do not have to be married or in a relationship to adopt a child and although you have to be over the age of 21 there is no firm upper age limit.
